Scope of the Project :
State Bank of India has taken up several financial inclusion initiatives for providing banking services at unbanked areas. One of these initiatives is Kiosk Banking, where a village level entrepreneur operates an internet supported PC (Kiosk) for providing basic banking services through biometric identification process. Kiosk Banking has been a successful initiative in making small value payments in rural hinterlands like MNREGS Payments, Social Security Payments, Scholarship Payments, FDR, Deposit, withdrawal, RD etc.
NICT as a Business Correspondents (BC) is appointed by SBI to open kiosks in remote areas. BC is a link between the Bank and the Kiosk Operator (KO). The main role of BC is to manage the Kiosk. This includes creating, updating, assigning transaction limits and providing support to various kiosk operators. NICT has opened total 5738 SBI kiosk through PAN India and benefited 1 Cr. citizens.
